Back in the Vietnam era, US military personnel had a tremendously effective upward management technique known as "fragging". It did wonders to get rid of the least competent middle managers, and increase the job satsfaction (not to mention the expected lifespan) of those on the front lines.
I'd be in favor of bringing it back today, only it's hard to come up with good reasons for all US workers to be equipped with grenades on the job.
